On November 3rd we are hosting a pancreatic cancer awareness event! My dad, Gary Sr., would have turned 62 on this day. If you don’t know he lost his life to pancreatic cancer in 2015. We are in the early stages of planning, but the event will include a workout, a food truck, and a guest speaker to share on pancreatic cancer.

The workout we will be completing for the 3rd year in a row as a gym symbolizes the birthday of Gary Sr.:

62 Row (calories)s

— then —

11 rounds of:

3 Pull-ups

1 Power Snatch, 115/75 lbs

9 AbMat Sit-ups

5 Thrusters, 115/75 lbs

6 Lateral Burpee (Over Barbell)

FAQs

What is Project Purple and how is that involved?

Project Purple is a charity that has some roots in CrossFit. They raise money and awareness for pancreatic cancer through running and fitness related events.

How do I get signed up?

Go to this page https://raceroster.com/events/2018/15585/push-pull-for-pancreatic-cancer/teams and join team Gary SR – 410 CrossFit. You donate $25 and this gets you a t-shirt and opens up your fundraiding page.

Is that it?

NO! Setting up your page is step one. A big part of why I like this type of fundraiser is because it raises money AND spreads awareness. After setting up your page your mission is to get friends and family to donate to your efforts. Tell them you are doing a very challenging workout for pancreatic cancer awareness and are seeking pledges/donations that will go to folks affected by the disease.

Why should I sign up?

By signing up you are supporting the eradication of one of the deadliest and most painful cancers. Signing up also makes the workout you will do on the 3rd a bit more meaningful.

This is something that is obviously very near and dear to my heart and appreciate you all considering joining forces.
