2019 Is Here!
Another year has come and gone. And while nothing really changes at midnight it is a good marker to reflect on where we are, where we’ve been and where we want to be. It is easy to get caught up in the moment and lose track of what you’ve accomplished or why you even started something in the first place.
Most of us hit the new year or even a new task with great anticipation and full hearts. However, life has this way of messing up our plans. For whatever reason we get derailed or blur the lines between what our heart wants and what our mind tells us is possible. I’m no expert but I think that the most beneficial thing we can do for ourselves is to have goals, work towards them and let go of how it comes to pass. The universe has this way of rewarding people who work towards something bigger than themselves.
Now, I’m not saying there aren’t speed bumps. Life is hard. That’s a fact. Life throws curve balls. Personally, I lived under the assumption that my father would be here into my 60’s. Sadly, as many of you know, pancreatic cancer took his life before he was 60. Rocky said it best. “You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”
Take the punches of 2018 as learning experiences and keep moving forward into 2019. As you reflect on where you want to be don’t forget to appreciate where you have been. For it is these experiences that have made you who you are. Good, bad or indifferent.
Happy New Year!
