17.2 Shocks the World with Muscle Ups!

Muscle ups in the Open! Who would have guessed it?

I would say the biggest thing that comes to mind for me after a very challenging movement comes up in the Open is don’t let it get you frustrated. Let it motivate you to take real action to achieve a muscle up in the future. The frustrating thing should be sitting here next year when muscle ups are thrown at us again and not having made any effort to get better at the movement.

The Open brings out the best in all of us. I really enjoyed watching folks try for and get their first toe-to-bar or bar muscle up. But I more so enjoyed the cheering and encouragement from the crowd. When we talk about the Open we often talk about how we can make ourselves better and things we need to work on for our personal fitness.

Obviously, that is very important. But I would challenge all of us to harness the energy we put into the success of others during the Open and let some of that come out during a regular class. Rather than finishing your workout and sitting in a chair try helping someone working on their last set of wall balls. Or hold off on putting away your weights while someone is still working through their set.

17.2 was a difficult workout for many but if you struggled leave it in the past and move on. Note some things you can work on and get ready for 17.3. It should be a doozy.

As many reps in 14 mins as you can of:

60 Row (calories)s

50 C2B Pull Up

40 Wall Balls, 20/14 lbs, 10/9 ft

30 Cleans, 135/95 lbs

20 Muscle-ups

17.3 is 14.2 with chest to bar pull ups.
